Why hello there everyone! After a full week and half away, Maggie and I have returned from our honeymoon and are ready to commence blogging once again! As you are all probably aware, on September 4th, Maggie and I were married - changing this site to a place where a young engaged couple blogs about cooking to a site where a young married couple blogs about food.
The entire week was fantastic. The wedding went off without a hitch, the reception was amazing and the honeymoon (save for the last day) was a great success. What happened on the last day? Well, yesterday night (I.E. the last day of the honeymoon) Maggie and I began to feel a little ill. It seems that we've come down with some form of food poisoning or with a flu bug. Since we both came down with the symptoms at the same time and are experiencing the same discomforts (and we ate the same thing last night) I'd place my bet on food poisoning rather than the flu. (And no, we didn't cook last night!)
One thing is certain though, no matter how long you've been away from work - once you show up with food poisoning - they suggest you take one more day off.
Anyway, let's get to the reason why you are all here - the cooking! This week (and the weeks in the near future) is going to be a little weird. My schedule at work has changed back to 10 hour long days - which means that my set days for cooking will be shifted slightly. As such, the number of recipes we try each week can and will vary slightly. This week, we're cooking two recipes (one apiece) and posting one feature. Here's what we're cooking with this week:
3.5 Pound Boneless Eye Round Roast
3 Pounds Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
1 Large Onion
1 Small Onion
5 Cloves Garlic
4 Cups Heavy Cream
1 Cup Whole Milk
4 Ounces Cheddar Cheese
Frozen Peas
1 Cup Buttermilk
4 Tablespoons Vegetable Shortening
Baking Soda
3 Carrots
Celery
Chicken Broth
4 Pounds Russet Potatoes
There you have it. Two recipes worth of ingredients. As I said, with this new schedule, our set nights have changed. This week, Maggie will be taking Tuesday night, and I will take Thursday night. We'll post a feature on a not so well known kitchen product on Wednesday to bridge the gap between recipes.
That's all we have for you today. Here's hoping Maggie and I are feeling better tomorrow...heaven knows we wont be in the mood to cook if we still feel like we do today. Yuck.
Be sure to 'Like' us on Facebook if you haven't. Maggie and I will no longer be posting links via our personal Facebook pages, so that's the only way to stay up to date with the blog! Until tomorrow evening,
~Cheers
