Good afternoon everyone! This week on the blog we have a 'theme week' in mind. Maggie and I each have 1 1/2 recipes (or planned meals) that each come from a different part of the world. So, we thought we would share a few of these 'worldly' recipes in a special 'food of the world' week here at Out Of The Culinary.
This week we will be sampling cuisine that originates from the far east, Italy and Mexico.
While we wont go as far as sharing what each specific region/country's ingredients are, we will give you the full list of goods we're cooking with this week:
Specific Brands (I.E. the better choices via our personal experiences or by taste test results of America's test kitchen) are in parentheses.
Fresh Cilantro
3 X Medium Shallots
5 X Medium Garlic Cloves
1 Lime
3 X Boneless, Skinless, Chicken Breasts
Parmesan Cheese
Green Onions
5 Ounces Shiitake Mushrooms
1 Pound Flank Steak
12 X 6 Inch Corn Tortillas
Large Eggs
1 Medium Butternut Squash
Plain Tomato Sauce (Barilla Italian Marinara)
Nutmeg (Tone's)
1 Pound Sirloin Steak
8 Ounces Snow Peas
Mozzarella Cheese
Low Sodium Chicken Broth
Chinese 5 Spice Powder (Penzey's)
Hoisin Sauce (Dynasty)
Garlic / Chile Sauce
There you have it. With a little digging, you may be able to piece together what ingredients are being used in certain recipes (after all, it shouldn't take much to figure out where the tortillas are being used...or the chinese 5 spice powder!) We're really excited to do a theme week - it gives us an excuse to branch out a little from our standard cooking - both in ingredients and in technique. It's sure to be a fun week, so be sure to stop back tomorrow night when Maggie takes to the kitchen. I follow Maggie by taking over Wednesday night and the week is rounded out when Maggie and I team up on Thursday night for a return to 'kitchen collaboration'
Until then,
~Cheers
